Yes' 50th anniversary plans to include March 2018 European tour, new live album

Credit: Glenn GottliebThe current Yes lineup has announced plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the prog-rock band’s formation by heading out on a special tour of the U.K. and mainland Europe in March 2018.

The trek, which currently runs from a March 13 concert in Bristol, U.K., through a March 30 show in Paris, will feature the group playing a selection of its best-known songs as well as sides 1 and 4 and part of side 3 the 1973 album Tales from Topographic Oceans.

“We want to mark this anniversary with a tour that encompasses some of our best loved work,” says longtime Yes guitarist Steve Howe. “We want to play things we enjoy, maybe songs we haven’t done in a while.”

Additional dates are expected to be announced soon.

On March 24 and 25, the London Palladium will not only host two Yes concerts, but also a 50th anniversary fan convention. In addition, longtime Yes artist Roger Dean will unveil two new paintings inspired by the Close to the Edge album at the March 25 show.

The band also has plans to release a new live album next year titled Topographic Drama — Live Across America, that features performances recorded during the group’s 2016 and 2017 U.S. tours.

Yes currently is winding down its 2017 Yestival tour of North America. The remaining dates include some shows with Todd Rundgren opening, and others where only Yes will perform.
