Jade Anderson; ABC/Randy HolmesVicky Cornell, wife of the late Chris Cornell, has joined the Advisory Board at the Addiction Policy Forum, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving policy related to drug abuse prevention, treatment, recovery and criminal justice reform.

“I’ve learned a lot since losing Chris, including the fact that addiction is a brain disease — a disease that is both preventable and treatable,” says Vicky in a statement. “While I can’t bring my husband back, I can help the millions of other families struggling with addiction and I hope we can prevent this horrific experience from happening to others.”

As an Advisory Board member, Vicky will be working alongside former Members of Congress Alan Mollohan and Frank Guinta, and former U.S. Army General Barry McCaffrey, among others.

Vicky’s first TV interview following her husband’s death aired Wednesday morning on ABC’s Good Morning America. During the interview, she revealed that Chris, who had battled drug addiction throughout his life, relapsed shortly before he died by suicide last May.
