Courtesy of John Fogerty/CAAZZ Top will team up soon with ex-Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty for the Blues & Bayous Tour, which kicks off May 25 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and is scheduled through a June 29 concert in Welch, Minnesota. ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons tells ABC Radio that his band and Fogerty will alternate opening slots, and they’ll also jam together at each show.

“[A]t the end of the night, we’ll collide,” he notes. “It’s gonna be cool.”

One song the two acts likely will play is a new original that Gibbons says he and Fogerty recently wrote together at John’s home.

Billy says of collaborating with Fogerty, “His voice, even today, resonates just as dramatically as it ever [did]. It’s a remarkable experience to be in front of something so appealing.”

Prior to the Blues & Bayous Tour, ZZ Top will be playing some headlining shows, including a five-date Las Vegas residency at The Venetian Theatre.

“We’ve done a number of shows in Las Vegas, but this will be our first appearance at The Venetian, which I understand is one of the nice rooms in town,” says Gibbons. “So we’re looking forward to that. Gonna crank it up and make a lot of loud noise.”

As for what kind of set fans who come out to those shows can expect, Gibbons says that alongside the band’s classics, “We’re gonna pull out a couple of the overlooked deep cuts and throw something new out there.”

ZZ Top’s April gigs will mark the first shows the band has played since postponing the end of its 2017 tour because bassist Dusty Hill was suffering from a “tummy ailment.” Gibbons reports that Hill now has been given a “clean bill of health.”
