RepriseWith the new Tom Petty box set An American Treasure being released September 28, a contest has been launched offering fans the chance to attend a private, advance listening party for the collection alongside members of The Heartbreakers.

The winner and a guest will be taken to Petty and the Heartbreakers’ secret Los Angeles-area rehearsal and recording space, The Clubhouse, where they will get to hear tracks from An American Treasure before the public.

Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench appear in a promo video sharing details about the contest, which you can enter by visiting the Omaze fundraising website.

“We’re doing something really special for our friend and lost soldier, Tom Petty,” says Campbell, while Tench explains, “[W]e’d like you and a friend to come down and hang at our clubhouse, where we recorded a lot of our records and where we rehearsed for ages and ages and ages.”

Campbell adds, “We want to share memories and food and drinks and music with the winners.”

Tench continues, “We’re gonna play [An American Treasure for] you before anybody else gets to hear it. And actually, there’s a lot of stuff on it that’s entirely unreleased…that we hadn’t heard for years and years and years. We’re really proud of it, and we think you’ll really like it.”

Donations raised by the contest will benefit The Midnight Mission, an L.A. charity supported by Petty that, Campbell explains, works “to provide a path to self-sufficiency for people experiencing homelessness.”

The contest winner also will receive a copy of the deluxe vinyl version of the box set, signed by The Heartbreakers.

Visit Omaze.com/Heartbreakers to enter. Entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. PT on August 23. A winner will be announced on or about September 5.
