Neil Young's joint concert with Bob Dylan in London next July moving ahead without Barclays as sponsor

Daryl Hannah; William ClaxtonNeil Young has announced that he’s resolved the issues he had regarding his July 12, 2019, co-headlining concert with Bob Dylan at London’s Hyde Park as part of the British Summer Time Hyde Park series. The show will go on as planned although it’s no longer listed as part of the series.

A message on the Neil Young Archives website under the headline “Sponsored by Nobody” reports, “the Hyde Park show will proceed without Barclays as a sponsor, adding, “We are overjoyed, so happy to be playing the show!” The site also has made tickets to the concert available to its subscribers.

A few days ago, Young posted a lengthy note on his website explaining that he was unhappy that the concert’s main sponsor, Barclays Bank, is a strong supporter of the fossil-fuel industry.

“That doesn’t work for me,” he wrote regarding Barclays involvement in the show. “I believe in Science. I worry about the Climate Crisis and am deeply concerned about its massive global ramifications and my beautiful grandchildren’s future.”

Neil said he also was upset because organizers had put tickets for the event on sale before he’d agreed to all of the details of the concert. The British Summer Time Hyde Park series no longer mentions Young and Dylan’s co-headlining gig on its website.

In other news, Young has announced that pre-sale tickets to five upcoming U.S. solo concerts as part of his theater tour will be available starting today to Neil Young Archives subscribers.
