The veteran British singer/songwriter will perform the latest single from the album, “Fabulously Absolute.” The Tonight Show airs at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT and 10:35 p.m. CT.

Fool, which came out January 18, is is Jackson’s 20th studio effort and arrives 40 years after the release of his debut album, 1979’s Look Sharp. Jackson says he looks at the new record as an old-school vinyl LP, “with two complementary sides of about 20 minutes each.”

He explains of the project, “I never have an overall theme in mind when I start trying to write songs for an album, but sometimes one will develop. In this case it’s Comedy and Tragedy, and the way they’re intertwined in all our lives.”

Adds Joe, “The songs are about fear and anger and alienation and loss, but also about the things that still make life worth living: friendship, laughter, and music — or art — itself. I couldn’t have done this in 1979. I just hadn’t lived enough.”

In support of Fool, Jackson will launch a North American tour leg on February 5 in Knoxville, Tennessee, that’s mapped out through a March 9 concert in Phoenix, Arizona. Fans who purchase tickets to the trek will receive a free digital download of Fool.
