Varèse Sarabande

Varèse SarabandeThe Zombies, who will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this month, recently released a five-LP vinyl box set titled The Complete Studio Recordings that features 62 tracks from the band’s 1960s heyday.

The remastered collection includes the only two U.S. studio albums released by the British Invasion band’s original lineup, 1965’s She’s Not There/Tell Her No and 1968’s Odessey & Oracle, as well as two compilations — the newly created R.I.P. and 1965’s I Love You, which only was issued in the U.K. and Japan. Rounding out the box set is Oddities & Extras, a collection of rare singles and U.K.-only album cuts.

Oddities & Extras boasts new notes written by acclaimed archival producer/engineer Andrew Sandoval. The five discs are pressed on high-quality 180-gram vinyl.

Meanwhile, founding Zombies bassist Chris White will release a compilation of previously unreleased tracks called The Chris White Experience (Volume One) on March 29, the very day the group is inducted into the Rock Hall. The 13-track album features recordings spanning from 1977 to 2015, and includes demos, studio collaborations and other unheard gems.

Various well-known musicians contributed to the tracks, including White’s Zombies band mates Colin Blunstone, Rod Argent and Hugh Grundy; ex-Procol Harum keyboardist Matthew Fisher; Argent members Jim Rodford, Bob Henrit, Russ Ballard and John Verity; former Humble Pie guitarist Clem Clempson; and Styx drummer Todd Sucherman.

In addition to playing bass for The Zombies, White co-produced and wrote most of the songs on the group’s classic album Odessey & Oracle. After the band’s 1967 split, he went on to co-produce all of the band Argent‘s albums and co-wrote most of that group’s songs.
