I'm REALLY happy to be back...
I kept it quiet after I got the diagnosis. Quite frankly, I was too scared to talk about it.
Cancer is a pretty scary thing.
I left the River for a three month period of time to go into treatment. I didn't want anyone to say anything about why I was gone. As I type this, I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe part of me was in denial.
In September of last year I was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in my neck//throat region. Luckily, the PET scan revealed that it hadn't metastasized to anywhere else in my body. I began radiation treatments, five days week, for seven weeks beginning the day after my birthday, October 10th. I finished treatment the day before Thanksgiving and underwent three chemotherapy sessions during the seven weeks as well.
Today I had a post-treatment examination at Kaiser in Santa Rosa, and my doctor was happy to inform me that the cancer is completely gone. I'm lucky that it was a strain of cancer that has a 97% cure rate. Thank God.
The best news is I'm back on the air again and with you, body and soul, weeknights from 6 p.m. to midnight!
The most important lesson i learned during this whole ordeal was to never take any moment in life for granted; it's all good. Hug your loved ones every day. And listen to your body -- early detection saves lives. Most of all, believe in the goodness of Life.
Trust in God. She's beautiful and She really does know what's going on.
Good to be back... I missed you.
