After making the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the finals in the prestigious PAGE International Screenwriting Awards Competition, today was THE DAY for the announcement of the winners. I’m extremely pleased to say that my screenplay, “Under the Rising Sun,” was one of those chosen! I won the Bronze Award in the Historical Drama genre! I also find it especially fitting that this happened on the birthday of the person whose true life story was the inspiration for the screenplay and the book it was based on. Happy Birthday, Mom! This one’s for you.

Screenwriting Awards

Hi everyone

I have some great news – my screenplay, “Under the Rising Sun” (adapted from my book “Through My Mother’s Eyes”) has just taken a big leap in recognition. The PAGE International Screenplay Competition in Los Angeles is one of the most prestigious script competitions around, only surpassed by the Nicholl Fellowships sponsored by the Academy Awards. Screenplays that make the finalist cut are among the elite, and I’m proud to say that my script finally broke new ground by making the Finals in an announcement on Sunday September 15th! There are several thousand entrants in this competition every year and the competition is stiff. The top screenplays that make this cut get the attention of producers, agents (like CAA, etc.) and actors/actresses looking for a script that they can make their mark with.

They announce the Grand Prize winner ($25,000) on October 15th.

Here’s the website announcing today’s winners. ...

Our Cats

Hi all

I don't know if you've heard, but Angela and I have two cats. Their names are Lavender and Phoebe and they actually have their own Facebook Fan site. Seriously.

Anyway, if you like cats with a sense of humor, you can find these little rascals on Facebook. Just do a search for "Lavender and Phoebe" and you're good to go.

~ Doc

Have I mentioned how spoiled they are?
