ABC/Randy HolmesGuns N’ Roses and Eddie Vedder both honored the late Chris Cornell in different ways during their respective shows over the weekend.

During GN’R’s show in Slane Castle, Ireland on Saturday, Axl Rose and company performed a cover of Soundgarden’s signature song “Black Hole Sun.” While they played, the stage background projected an image of the Seattle Space Needle. You can watch fan-filmed footage of the performance now via YouTube.

Following the performance, Guns tweeted, “This one’s for you Chris.”

Meanwhile, Vedder took a more subtle approach to honoring his fellow grunge compatriot. According to reports on Pearl Jam‘s official online forum, Vedder never mentioned Cornell by name during his solo tour opener in Amsterdam Saturday, but a general sense of mourning was felt throughout the show.

During one part of his onstage appearance, Vedder reportedly said, “I’m thinking of a lot of people tonight. And some in particular and their families.”
