Santana's Isley Brothers collaboration, “Power of Peace,” due out in August

Legacy RecordingsFull details have been revealed about the collaborative album Carlos Santana recorded last year with The Isley Brothers‘ Ronald and Ernie Isley. Power of Peace will be released August 4, and features 13 tracks, 12 of which are covers of songs previously recorded by such artists as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Chambers Brothers, Billie Holiday, Eddie Kendricks, Curtis Mayfield and Muddy Waters.

Santana served as the record’s main producer and arranger, and also contributed lead and rhythm guitar, percussion and backing vocals. Ronald Isley was the album’s lead vocalist, while his brother Ernie played rhythm guitar and Carlos’ wife and band mate, Cindy Blackman Santana, played drums.

“I feel a deep sense of gratitude, appreciation, and thankfulness,” says Carlos about the project. “There is a spirit of creativity that came knocking and presented itself as a golden opportunity to do something with and for a supreme musician, who I consider to be the best in the world…Brother Ronnie Isley.”

Ronald Isley adds, “It was an absolute joy working on this album with Carlos! I hope this record carries the spirit of hope, love, and peace to the world that it brought to me, my brother and Carlos!”

Cindy wrote and sings the album’s one original track, “I Remember.” Power of Peace also includes backing-vocal contributions from Ronald and Ernie’s respective wives, Kandy Johnson Isley and Tracy Isley.
