The Moody Blues spent much of the summer on the road in North America celebrating the 50th anniversary of their classic orchestral concept album, Days of Future Passed, and now the band has revealed plans for some new stateside dates early next year.
So far, the new trek features just seven dates, kicking off January 21 in Cedar Park, Texas, and winding down January 31 with the final date of a four-show engagement at Las Vegas’ Encore Theater.
The Moody Blues’ Days of Future Passed 50th Anniversary Tour features the band playing a set of its classic hits followed by a full performance of the landmark album. The veteran British group is augmented by taped orchestral parts recorded especially for the tour, and the concert also boasts a multimedia presentation that includes video of actor Jeremy Irons reciting the album’s poetry segments.
Released in November 1967, Days of Future Passed was The Moody Blues’ second album, and the first to feature longtime singer/guitarist Justin Hayward and singer/bassist John Lodge. The album, which features the band accompanied by the London Festival Orchestra, includes the hit songs “Nights in White Satin” and “Tuesday Afternoon.” The record peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1972, and has sold more than one million copies in the U.S.
Ahead of The Moodies’ 2018 concerts, Lodge will mount a previously announced U.S. tour in support of his 2015 solo album, 10,000 Light Years Ago. The trek runs from an October 26 show in Vienna, Virginia, through a November 6 gig in New York City.
