The music world has lost a legend…
Tom Petty had passed away at the age of 66 years old. Petty’s manager confirmed his death on Monday evening by saying, “On behalf of the Tom Petty family we are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader, and friend, Tom Petty.”
Petty suffered from cardiac arrest and was rushed to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital after being found unconscious. The decision to take Petty off of life support was made shortly after.
Petty had just celebrated four decades with his band during their 40th anniversary tour which wrapped up at the Hollywood Bowl last week.
His manager’s statement came hours after false reports from multiple news outlets, as the LAPD was unable to officially confirm his death at the time.
