The trek will raise money for TeachRock, a national initiative launched by Van Zandt’s Rock and Roll Forever Foundation that seeks to bring its music curriculum to middle and high schools.
So far, only five concerts have been confirmed, but more are expected to be announced soon. Tickets for the announced dates go on sale today. All proceeds from the trek will be donated to to TeachRock. Visit LittleSteven.com for more details.
“Music will forever be humanity’s most effective and consistent source of inspiration and motivation,” says Little Steven, “and, we have learned, music turns out to be our most solid common ground for establishing communication between teachers and students which is where education begins.”
Van Zandt continues to promote his 2017 album, Soulfire, his first solo effort since 1999’s Born Again Savage.
In other news, Van Zandt is among the honorees who be inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame at a ceremony held May 6 at the historic Convention Hall in Asbury Park. Other inductees who will be saluted at the event include Blondie singer Debbie Harry, Franki Valli and The Four Seasons, disco queen Gloria Gaynor and legendary actress Meryl Streep.
Little Steven previously was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame as a member of The E Street Band in 2013.
