Surfdog Records/BMGThe Stray Cats strut back with their first new studio album in 26 years, 40, which was released today. As its title suggests, the record celebrates the 40th anniversary of the veteran rockabilly trio — singer/guitarist Brian Setzer, bassist Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom.

The album is available on CD, on vinyl and digitally. A special colored-vinyl version of the LP that comes packaged with a two-sided 24-by-12-inch poster can be purchased exclusively in independent record shops. In addition, a deluxe edition of 40, featuring two bonus tracks, two Stray Cats coasters, two stickers and a postcard, is available at the Surfdog Records label’s official website.

The band recorded 40 in late 2018 in Nashville with producer Peter Collins, who’s previously worked with Rush, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper and many others. In advance of the album’s release, The Stray Cats released three tracks — “Cat Fight (Over a Dog Like Me),” “Rock It Off” and “Cry Danger” — which you can check out at the group’s official YouTube channel.

The Stray Cats will support 40 with a 40th anniversary tour that begins with a European leg running from a June 21 concert in Vitoria, Spain, through a July 20 show in Falun, Sweden. The band will then mount a U.S. that kicks off August 3 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and is plotted out through an August 31-September 1 stand in San Diego.
