Credit: Austin LordPeter Frampton launches his goodbye trek, dubbed Finale — The Farewell Tour, with a headlining show tonight in Catoosa, Oklahoma. The massive outing, which will feature Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening as special guest at most of the concerts, is mapped out all the way through an October 12 show in Concord, California.

As previously reported, Frampton is retiring from the road because he’s been diagnosed with inclusion body myositis, a degenerative muscular disease that eventually will hamper his ability to play guitar. One dollar from every ticket sold for the tour will benefit The Peter Frampton Myositis Research Fund at Johns Hopkins, a fund established by Peter and the Baltimore-based hospital, where the guitar whiz is being treated.

In addition, Frampton’s son Julian and his band will be the opening act at the last seven dates of the tour, which features stops on the West Coast.

You can check out a series of humorous videos promoting the trek on Frampton’s YouTube channel that feature Ringo Starr, Toto‘s Steve Lukather, Alice Cooper, Joe Walsh and other music stars hitting Peter up for free tickets and backstage passes.

In other news, Frampton’s new studio album, All Blues, a collection of blues covers Peter recorded with his touring band, debuted at #1 on Billboard‘s Blues Albums chart. The 10-track collection includes guest appearances by Fabulous Thunderbirds frontman Kim Wilson, longtime Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse and acclaimed jazz guitarist Larry Carlton.
