ABC/Randy HolmesOzzy Osbourne made a surprise appearance on Post Malone‘s new album Hollywood’s Bleeding, but it turns out the track was much more than just a unique feature.

Speaking the the U.K. tabloid The Sun, the Prince of Darkness reveals how recording with Post inspired him to start working on a new solo album, his first since 2010’s Scream.

“I’d never even heard of this kid,” Ozzy says, referring to Post. “He wanted me to sing on his song ‘Take What You Want,’ so I did and then one thing led to another.”

Osbourne explains that he then started working on a record with Post’s producer, Andrew Watt.

“It’s only nine tracks but it was a catalyst to get me to where I am today,” Ozzy says, adding that it’s “the greatest album I’ve done.”

For Ozzy, working on new music was an enormous help while he recovered from a fall he suffered in his home earlier this year, aggravating injuries he sustained in a 2003 ATV accident. He needed to undergo surgery, forcing him to postpone all of his 2019 tour dates to next year.

“If it wasn’t for making this record, I would still be [in] traction, thinking, ‘I’m going to be lying here forever,'” Osbourne explains.

“I’ve missed music so badly,” he adds. “My fans are so loyal and so good. Up until making the album I thought I was dying. But that got me off my a**e.”
