Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, David Crosby, Elvis Costello among nominees for next year's Grammy Awards

The Recording AcademyThe nominees for the 62nd Grammy Awards were announced today and among the nominees are a handful of classic-rock artists, including Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, David Crosby and Elvis Costello.

Iommi scored a nod for Best Metal Performance for “Astorolus — The Great Octopus,” a collaboration with the band Candlemass.

Crosby’s documentary Remember My Name is in the running for the Best Music Film prize.

Costello and his longtime backing group The Imposters have been nominated for the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album honor for Look Now.

Former Fabulous Thunderbirds guitarist Jimmie Vaughan, the late Stevie Ray‘s brother, will vie for the Best Traditional Blues Album award for Baby, Please Come Home.

Garnering two nominations is the massive box set Woodstock: Back to the Garden — The Definitive 50th Anniversary Archive, which will compete for the Best Historical Album and Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package trophies.

The late Chris Cornell‘s self-titled archival box set received a nod for the Best Recording Package prize.

The soundtrack to the surreal Elton John biopic Rocketman is a nominee in the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media category.

Grammy winners will be revealed on Sunday, January 26, live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS. Many of the awards also will be handed out earlier that day during the Premiere Ceremony, which takes place at the Microsoft Theater in L.A. For the full list of nominees, go to Grammy.com.
