ABC/Randy HolmesEarlier this week, an unverified Instagram account called @talkingheadsofficial appeared, claiming it was the “Official Instagram account for Talking Heads.”

Given that Rage Against the Machine announced their recent reunion via an unverified Instagram account, Talking Heads fans immediately went crazy, speculating that another unexpected reunion was in the worKs.  But sadly, this is not your beautiful house, this is not your beautiful wife, and there’s no such thing happening.

Variety reports that the account was actually created by Talking Heads keyboard player Jerry Harrison‘s new manager to promote an upcoming 40th anniversary Remain in Light tour, which is going to feature Harrison, Adrian Belew and the band Turkuaz, which is produced by Harrison, all performing songs from that classic Talking Heads album.

However, it doesn’t seem like everyone who needed to be told about this was informed.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Talking Heads frontman David Byrne said, “I have never heard of this, I don’t know what it is or who is doing it, so clearly it can’t be an ‘official’ Talking Heads account. Whatever plans others in the band may have is strictly their own business and I wish them well.”

Likewise, Talking Heads members Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth told Rolling Stone, “We were made aware of the Instagram account a few days ago, as it was brought to life by someone who works with Jerry. We have not even talked about this internally yet. We are all currently happily working on our own projects and there are no plans for a Talking Heads reunion.”

The last time the Talking Heads played together was 2002, at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.  Byrne is currently appearing on Broadway in a stage version of his tour supporting his solo album, American Utopia.
