Credit: David WooThe Steve Miller Band has pushed back the start of its North American summer trek with veteran country act Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The outing, dubbed The Americana Tour, had been slated to kick off on June 13 in Austin, Texas, but all of the June concerts have been postponed and the trek now will begin with a July 9-10 engagement in Saratoga, California.
Steve Miller has posted a message about the postponement that reads, “There is nothing more important to us than your good health and welfare so we are postponing all of our dates in June to a later date when it is safe for all of us to be together. Watch this spot for updates. Peace, Love, Happiness…Take care Of Each Other…See YA IN A MINUTE!”
The trek is mapped out through a September 4 performance at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup, Washington. Most of the shows on the long road trip will feature Miller and his group supported by Stuart and his band, as well as comedian and singer Gary Mule Deer. Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives are not on the bill of the tour’s last three dates — the Puyallup gig as well as a concert on September 1 in Victoria, Canada, and September 2 in Vancouver, Canada.
Besides its June tour dates, the Steve Miller Band also postponed a May 1 show in Scottsdale, Arizona. In addition, the Beachlife Festival, which had been scheduled to take place May 1-3 in Redondo Beach, California, with a headlining appearance by the Miller Band on its final day, has been postponed as well.
