This Friday, May 8 — sing “Eighth of May” to the tune of “Ace of Spades” if you don’t get it — a whole host of Motörhead happenings will go down online, including a Warpig Facebook and Instagram filter, a brand-new lyric video for “Ace of Spades,” and a new merch line raising money for the touring crew charity, Crew Nation.
You can also take part in the fun by posting a photo of yourself online raising a toast to Motörhead, along with the hashtag #8thofMay.
Ace of Spades was released in November 1980, and was recorded by Motörhead’s “classic” lineup: Lemmy, guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke and drummer Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor. Both Lemmy and Taylor died in 2015, while Clarke passed in 2018.
