Petaluma’s Annual American Legion Veteran’s Day Parade, the third largest Veteran’s Parade in Northern California, will celebrate and honor all local veterans 1pm Monday November 11, 2024, downtown Petaluma. The 2024 theme will be “A Salute to the United States Coast Guard”. Specifically recognizing the Coast Guard Training Center located just west of Petaluma. The training Center Petaluma is the Coast Guard’s largest West Coast Training Center.
Parade Grand Marshall will be, CDR Kathryn Cyr, USCG Executive Officer, as well as members of the Redwood Empire Military Woman, Unit 77.
Parade highlights will include participants from all branches of the military, local veterans, high school bands, classic car groups, equestrian teams, local law enforcement, first responders and various community groups, food, and music. Flyovers expected by numerous historic aircraft’s including a vintage P51 jet, Vietnam Era Huey helicopter and USCG Coast Guard Helicopter. The 57th annual Parade is sponsored by Friedmans Home Improvement.
In a ceremony at the gazebo in Walnut Park immediately following the parade local dignitaries and military leaders will speak. The Petaluma Coast Guard will receive recognition by the Petaluma American Legion. A special ceremony will take place as Petaluma veteran Mike Ergo will be awarded a Purple Heart for his service in Afghanistan presented by Lieutenant Colonel Doug Bahrms
