UMeA soundtrack album for the 2017 documentary Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story, which celebrated the life and musical contributions of the late David Bowie guitarist, will be released on June 8.

Mick Ronson, a.k.a. “Ronno,” was best known as the lead guitarist of Bowie’s backing group The Spiders from Mars, and played on all of David’s albums from 1970’s The Man Who Sold the World through 1974’s Pin Ups.

The 14-track collection includes three Bowie songs — “Moonage Daydream,” “Cracked Actor” and “Time” — as well as four selections from Mick’s solo albums, plus tracks Ronson recorded with Elton John, Ian Hunter and Michael Chapman.

The album also features two performances from the 1992 Freddie Mercury tribute concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, at which Ronson joined Bowie and Queen‘s surviving members for renditions of “All the Young Dudes” and “Heroes.” Mick died of cancer just nine days after the concert.

In addition, the soundtrack includes two previously unreleased tracks: a version of Ronson’s 1975 solo song “This Is For You” by Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott, and an instrumental piano tribute to Mick by longtime Bowie keyboardist Mike Garson.

Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story, The Soundtrack will be issued on CD, digitally and as a 180-gram vinyl LP. A limited-edition red-vinyl disc also will be available exclusively at uDiscoverMusic.com.

The documentary, which features narration Bowie recorded prior to his death, reveals how important Ronson’s creative input was to David’s glam-rock-era recordings. The film also boasts new and archival interviews with such notables as Lou Reed, Queen’s Roger Taylor, Ian Hunter, Joe Elliott, YesRick Wakeman and Bowie’s ex-wife Angie.
