The San Francisco Giants baseball team hosted the sixth annual Metallica Night Monday in honor of the Bay Area metal legends.
Before the hometown team took the field to take on the visiting Washington Nationals, guitarist Kirk Hammett performed an instrumental version of the national anthem. Additionally, drummer Lars Ulrich threw out the first pitch.
As for the actual game, the Giants went home with a 4-2 win.
Now that Monday’s festivities are over, Metallica will head to Germany later this week to resume their European tour behind the band’s latest album, Hardwired…to Self-Destruct. They’ll launch a U.S. tour in September.
