The jam session leads to the creation of a brand-new song called “Two Fingers of Whiskey.” You can watch it all unfold now on the official PBS YouTube channel.
Sir Elton takes lead vocals and plays piano, while White provides guitar and backing vocals. “Two Fingers of Whiskey” is featured on the Music from The American Epic Sessions soundtrack, which will be released June 9.
The American Epic Sessions is the companion film to American Epic, a three-part documentary series about the history of recorded music in the U.S. that White co-executive produced. It features a wide variety of artists — John, White, Los Lobos, Willie Nelson, the late Merle Haggard, Taj Mahal, Beck, Alabama Shakes and more — recording music using recreated equipment from the 1920s.
The third part of the American Epic documentary aired Tuesday night.
