earMUSICAlice Cooper‘s latest studio album, Paranormal, won’t hit stores until July 28, but the shock rocker has just released the record’s lead single, a heavy-rocking tune titled “Paranoiac Personality.”
The track is available as a digital download and via streaming services, and you also can check it out at the earMUSIC label’s YouTube channel.
“Paranoiac Personality” is a mid-tempo rocker featuring some blistering guitar work that accompanies Cooper as he growls about the people he’s sure are out to get him.
“I’m smelling a conspiracy, telling lies about me constantly,” Alice sings in the chorus, which boasts a melody that tips its hat to Living Colour‘s “Cult of Personality.” “They follow me, I see them there. Don’t they know that feeds my paranoiac personality?”
The digital single also features a live version of the classic Cooper tune “I’m Eighteen” recorded at a concert in Dallas.
In other news, Cooper has unveiled the complete track list of Paranormal, which comes packaged with a bonus disc featuring two new original songs that Alice wrote and recorded with the other surviving members of the original Alice Cooper band: bassist Dennis Dunaway, drummer Neal Smith and guitarist Michael Bruce. The extra disc also includes six live performances by Cooper’s current group, recorded at a May 2016 show in Columbus, Ohio.
As previously reported, Paranormal was produced by longtime Cooper collaborator Bob Ezrin, and features guest appearances by U2‘s Larry Mullen Jr., ZZ Top‘s Billy Gibbons and Deep Purple‘s Roger Glover.
