The group, which also features one-time Led Zeppelin drummer Jason Bonham, blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa and former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian, reassembled in January to start work on the new record after going on indefinite hiatus in 2013 following the release of their third studio effort, 2012’s Afterglow.

“I just felt the time was right for Black Country Communion to go back into the studio and write and record a new album,” explains Bonamassa, who also has a prolific solo career. “When I contacted Glenn, Derek and Jason, they immediately agreed to give it shot. The timing was right.”

Hughes says of BCCIV, “A lot has happened since we last recorded the Afterglow album…so, in many ways, the new album shows BCC with a much harder, riffier and bigger and bolder sound. If you’re looking for a folk album, this ain’t the one.”

The new record was produced by renowned rock producer Kevin Shirley, who has worked on all four Black Country Communion albums and is considered the band’s fifth member.

BCCIV is available on CD, vinyl and digitally, and can be pre-ordered now at BCCommunion.com. The band, whose members are also busy with various other music projects, currently only have three confirmed concerts lined up in support of the album. They’ll be performing exclusive U.K. shows on January 2 in Wolverhampton Civic and January 4 in London, and also will make a special appearance at Bonamassa’s 2018 Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea cruise, running from February 26 to March 2.

Here’s the track list of BCCIV:

“Over My Head”
“The Last Song for My Resting Place”
“Sway”
“The Cove”
“The Crow”
“Wanderlust”
