Credit: Danny ClinchFleetwood Mac recently headlined a pair of special concert events, The Classic West and The Classic East, which took place in Los Angeles and New York City, respectively, on July 16 and July 30 and also featured Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire. The shows are the only ones on Fleetwood Mac’s 2017 itinerary, but drummer Mick Fleetwood promises that the band will be back in action in 2018.
“We’re very positive about all getting together and putting another big tour together next year,” the 70-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer tells ABC Radio. “We’re probably thinking of starting rehearsing around April or something like that. A little unknowing, but the general vibe is that we’re all committed to going out and doing another big world tour.”
Fleetwood also maintains that, contrary to some media reports, the group isn’t looking at the next trek as a farewell tour.
Mick reports that the band initially had no plans to play any shows together this year, but when they were asked to take part in the Classic events, “We said, ‘Yeah, why not?'”
He adds, “We were very happy with the two shows, and I think it left us with a great positive feeling of the power of that band when we all get together as quietly an unspoken fact.”
