Foo Fighters cover AC/DC; earn six new platinum distinctions

ABC/Travis BellFoo Fighters performed on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge on Friday, an appearance during which Dave Grohl and company busted out a cover of AC/DC‘s “Let There Be Rock.” You can check out a clip of the performance now via BBC Radio 1’s Twitter.

Also during the Live Lounge set, the Foos played their classic “Best of You” and their new single, “The Sky Is a Neighborhood,” which will appear on the band’s forthcoming album, Concrete and Gold, due out September 15.

In other Foo Fighters news, the band’s catalog has earned six new platinum certifications from the RIAA. The singles “Everlong,” “Best of You” and “The Pretender” have all been certified double platinum, while “Learn to Fly,” the 2007 album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, and 2011’s Wasting Light all earned platinum status.

Foo Fighters will kick off a North American headlining tour in October.
