Credit: Jim RaketeDeep Purple has announced plans to put out a smoking series of special releases next month tied in with their latest studio album, inFinite.
An expanded, two-CD version of the record called inFinite (Gold Edition) will be released on November 3, that includes an extra disc featuring performances from Deep Purple’s set at Hellfest 2017 in Clisson, France, this past June. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers played a few selections from inFinite at the show, as well as such classics as “Smoke on the Water,” “Hush,” “Strange Kind of Woman,” “Perfect Strangers” and “Space Truckin’.”
Also arriving in November will be a Blu-ray featuring Deep Purple’s first full-length documentary, From Here to inFinite. The film takes a behind-the-scenes look at the group and the making of the new album, which was released in April. The disc also boasts more than two hours of bonus content, including audio commentary by the band members, footage of three songs from Hellfest 2017, outtakes from the movie, official videos for three inFinite tracks, various interviews and more.
In conjunction with the Blu-ray’s release, Deep Purple will issue a special three-LP vinyl set called The inFinite Live Recordings, Pt. 1, which offers an unabridged version of the band’s Hellfest 2017 set. The vinyl release features two tracks that don’t appear on the second CD of the inFinite (Gold Edition).
Meanwhile, Deep Purple have just premiered an official video for the inFinite track “The Surprising” that you can watch now at the earMusic label’s official YouTube channel. The animated clip follows graphic depictions of the current band members as they travel on an ice-breaking ship through Arctic waters — a journey that’s filled with allusions to the rock legends’ history.
