Paul Natkin/WireImageA variety of items that belonged to late Boston singer Brad Delp, including musical equipment, memorabilia and other collectibles, is going on the block as part of Boston-based RR Auction’s Marvels of Modern Music sale.
Bidding for the items begins December 7 and the auction will close on December 14. The most expensive item being sold is an 1873 Chickering grand piano that the rocker bought in 1979 — it’s being offered for the starting price of $50,000. A Paul Reed Smith guitar custom-made for Delp in 2004 also is being auctioned, and is expected to fetch at least $5000.
Other items include handwritten lyric sheets, a variety of vinyl albums, a pair of telegrams sent to Brad from Paul McCartney, a collection of photos and home movies taken during Boston’s 1979 tour of Japan, various tour programs and laminates, a pair of silver glitter platform shoes, and an engraved platinum medallion Delp received to commemorate Boston’s self-titled debut going platinum in November 1976.
The items are being offered by Delp’s ex-wife Micki and their two children, John-Michael and Jennifer.
“I hope that all these [items] end up in the hands of people who appreciate it, and preserve the legacy of Brad’s kindness and humor,” Micki said in a statement. “He was always kind and generous. He really was unaffected by the fame and fortune that fell in his lap. It shows in all these wonderful things.”

Delp committed suicide in March 2007. He was 55.
