ABC/Randy HolmesJames Hetfield has been cast in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, which, may sound like a Metallica album name, but actually is an upcoming film about infamous serial killer Ted Bundy.
In the movie, Hetfield will play Bob Hayward, a Utah highway patrol officer who arrested Bundy in 1975. The part will mark Hetfield’s first dramatic acting role.
Extremely Evil will be directed by Joe Berlinger, who also co-directed and produced the 2004 Metallica doc Some Kind of Monster.
“Having spent hundreds of hours behind the scenes with James and the rest of Metallica, I have experienced his charisma and powerful presence close up,” Berlinger says in a statement. “It seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled.”
Along with Hetfield, the Extremely Evil cast includes Jim Parsons, John Malkovich and Lily Collins — Phil Collins‘ daughter — while Zac Efron will star as Bundy. The film is currently in production.
