Andrew C. Robinson/Dark Horse ComicsA long-in-the-works TV series about late Beatles manager Brian Epstein is going into development as a limited event series for broadcast on the Bravo network. The production, which is based on author Vivek Tiwary‘s award-winning graphic novel The Fifth Beatle: The Brian Epstein Story, tells the story of how Epstein helped guide the Fab Four to international stardom while dealing with the obstacles of being a gay man at a time when homosexuality was a crime in his U.K. homeland.

Tiwary will write the adaptation of his 2013 novel, and also will serve as an executive producer for the series. Tiwary, who also has been involved with dozens of Tony-winning stage productions, has secured the rights to John Lennon and Paul McCartney‘s song catalog for use in the series. It’s the first Beatles-related biopic to be granted such rights.
