In conjunction with the premiere, Nashville Mayor David Briley will proclaim May 10 “Steven Tyler Day” in Music City, and the the rock legend will attend the celebration.

“Nashville is a key part of my musical journey and has had an influential place in my career, so this recognition from the city is a tremendous honor,” says Tyler in a statement. “I’m also so touched that the Nashville Film Festival selected Steven Tyler: Out on a Limb to kick off opening night of this year’s event.”

The documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at Tyler as he works on the album, which found him exploring country music influences.  It includes narration from Tyler, interviews with various collaborators and musical friends — including Slash — and footage from a performance at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium.

Steven Tyler: Out on a Limb was directed by Casey Tebo, whose resume also includes the 2013 Aerosmith concert film Rock for the Rising Sun and the band’s “Legendary Child” video.

Out on a Limb‘s premiere will take place at the Regal Cinemas Hollywood 27 theater at 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. CT. The movie also will be released on video-on-demand and digital HD on May 15. Check out a trailer for the film at Yahoo.com.
