Credit: Jill FurmanovskyChrissie Hynde is famous for her singing and songwriting prowess, but the Pretenders frontwoman recently has been putting her creative talents into oil painting and will be releasing a limited-edition book focusing on her artwork this September. The book, titled Adding the Blue, will feature almost 200 examples of her art.
Hynde, who studied art as a student at Ohio’s Kent State University before following her passion for music, says “I always thought I would get into painting, but I got waylaid by rock ‘n’ roll and then I had kids. All their life everyone feels that they’ve missed the boat, that they haven’t figured it out. All this work’s been done over the age of 65 when I wasn’t expecting to do it. I thought it was too late but then I moved and I started painting. As soon as that happened, I just couldn’t stop.”
A series of fine art prints of Hynde’s painting will be available in conjunction with the book’s publication. You can sign up for updates about the book by visiting AddingtheBlue.com.
