Credit: Michael LavineSoundgarden members Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron will perform together for the first time since frontman Chris Cornell‘s death at the 2018 NorthSide festival in Denmark, held June 7-9.
According to a post on the festival’s Facebook page, Thayil and Cameron will both be playing with MC50, a band organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of legendary proto-punk band MC5.
Led by MC5 co-founder Wayne Kramer, MC50 will embark on a U.S. tour this fall. The band’s lineup on the tour will also feature Thayil on guitar, while Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty will be manning the kit.
Cornell died by suicide last May. Thayil and Cameron made a public appearance together last November at a fundraising dinner for the Los Angeles Committee of Human Rights Watch, during which Cornell was posthumously honored with the inaugural Promise Award.
