In commemoration of its one-year anniversary, Cameron wrote a remembrance of the performance in an Instagram post.

“I was very happy [Cornell] called me for this TV gig,” Cameron wrote. “The entire band was a little nervous before taping, the song had some very interesting twists and turns and like all of Chris’ songs, you HAVE to pay attention and let it flow at the same time.”

“I thought the performance came off great,” he added. “Well-played, brother.”

Cornell wrote “The Promise” for the 2017 film of the same name about the Armenian genocide. The track, which was the last song Cornell released before his May 18 death, was nominated for Best Rock Performance at this year’s Grammys.
