Courtesy Shore Fire MediaSoundgarden‘s Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil will reunite this summer to play in MC50, a band organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of legendary proto-punk band MC5. For a preview of what that sounds like, Cameron has shared an Instagram video featuring footage of the two rehearsing together.
Cameron and Thayil will play together with MC50 at Denmark’s NorthSide festival, taking place June 7-9. It was the first show announced to feature the pair since Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell‘s death last May.
MC50, which is led by MC5 co-founder Wayne Kramer, will embark on a U.S. tour in September. The U.S. run will also feature Thayil on guitar, while drums will be handled by Fugazi‘s Brendan Canty.
