Pete Cronin/RedfernsA new documentary about late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton called The Salvation Kingdom is streaming now online. You can watch the 90-minute film, narrated by the musician’s older sister Connie Burton, now on YouTube.

In the film, Connie talks about her brother’s childhood, hobbies and his faith. The title The Salvation Kingdom is a reference to a quote from poet and theologian Paul Gerhardt, which can be heard in the Metallica song “To Live Is to Die,” which appears on the album …And Justice for All.  Metallica wrote the song as a tribute to Cliff, and it features riffs he had written before his 1986 death.

Cliff joined Metallica in 1982 and played on the band’s first three albums: 1983’s Kill ‘Em All, 1984’s Ride the Lightning and 1986’s Master of Puppets. He died in September 1986 in a freak bus accident.
