ABC/Craig SjodinEddie Vedder is contributing original music to Return to Mount Kennedy, a new film premiering at the Telluride Mountainfilm festival on May 25.
Return to Mount Kennedy documents the mission of the sons of two men — Jim Whittaker, the first American to reach the summit of Mount Everest, and the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy — to replicate their fathers’ 1965 ascent of Mount Kennedy. The Canadian mountain was named after RFK’s brother, President John F. Kennedy.
Vedder also appears in the trailer for the film. As for why he’s involved in the project, Whittaker, like Pearl Jam, is a Seattle native.
