Long runnin' trek: Doobie Brothers add dates to fall US tour

Credit: Andrew MacphersonThe Doobie Brothers recently announced two concerts at New York City’s Beacon Theatre this November while will feature special full-album performances.  Now the band has added a series of traditional headlining shows to its U.S. fall itinerary.

A total of 13 new dates have been lined up in the East and Midwest, running from an October 9 gig in Milwaukee through a November 13 concert in Stamford, Connecticut.

In addition, The Doobie Brothers have revealed in a joint statement that they “will be writing and recording new music this summer,” adding that they “are looking forward to heading back on the road in September.”

The band recently wrapped up a joint tour with Steely Dan. Prior to the fall headlining trek, the group will serve as an opening act for the Eagles at a pair of stadium performances: September 20 at San Francisco’s AT&T Park and September 22 at San Diego’s PETCO Park.

Tickets for the newly announced fall dates go on sale to the general public this Friday, July 27 at Ticketmaster.com.

As previously reported, The Doobies will be performing their 1972 album Toulouse Street on November 15 at the Beacon and their 1973 release The Captain and Me on the following night.  At those shows, the band will also play various hits from their entire career.
