Rick Diamond/Getty Images for Webster PRFounding Allman Brothers Band singer/guitarist Dickey Betts has postponed three concerts he had scheduled this week after suffering what his doctors say was a “mild stroke.”

A post on the 74-year-old musician’s official website reports that Betts’ physicians strongly advised him to take time off to recuperate, after he informed them he had experienced was described as “certain post-stroke repercussions.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s doctors say that Dickey will be completely recovered after three to five weeks and will be able to tour again.

The postponed dates had been scheduled for this Tuesday, August 28, at the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, New York; Thursday, August 30, at the Toyota Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, Connecticut; and Friday, August 31, at the Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Betts hopes to reschedule the Connecticut and New Hampshire shows.

“Dickey really regrets that he can’t be there for his fans,” says Betts’ manager David Spero, “but he has to take care of his health first.”

Betts still has three confirmed 2018 concerts on his itinerary, starting with a November 1 performance in Augusta, Georgia. In addition, he’s slated to perform on the 2019 Southern Rock Cruise, which sets sail from Tampa, Florida, on January 6 and returns to port on January 12.

Dickey recently began performing again after a three-year hiatus. His current backing band includes his son Duane Betts on guitar.
