Scott Dudelson/Getty ImagesOn Sunday, Foo Fighters opened a pop-up shop in Los Angeles to promote their upcoming CalJam 18 festival, and the event included a performance by drummer Taylor Hawkins‘ cover band Chevy Metal. During the show, a very special guest — Queen drummer Roger Taylor — took the stage to man the kit for Chevy Metal’s performance of “Under Pressure.”
Hawkins handled lead vocals, and fellow Foo members Nate Mendel and Pat Smear also took part. You can watch fan-shot footage of the performance now on YouTube.
According to Billboard.com, the band also played renditions of The Knack’s “My Sharona,” The Rolling Stones‘ “Bitch” and “Miss You,” Queen’s “Tie Your Mother Down” and Faces’ “Stay with Me,” with Foos frontman Dave Grohl hitting the stage to sing the last tune.
In addition to Chevy Metal, the CalJam pop-up also featured a band called The Holy S***s, which turned out to be a fake name for Foo Fighters themselves. Grohl and company performed a quick set featuring several rarities, including “Gimme Stitches” from 1999’s There Is Nothing Left to Lose.
CalJam 18 will be held October 6 in San Bernardino, California. Along with the Foos, the festival will feature performances from Iggy Pop, Greta Van Fleet, Garbage and more. An abbreviated concert also will be held on October 5, with Billy Idol headlining.
