Courtesy of Forward StudiosDSL Dire Straits Legacy, a Dire Straits tribute group featuring various musicians who recorded and/or toured with the famous U.K. band, will launch its first tour of the U.S. next month. The seven-date trek kicks off September 26 in Los Angeles and runs through an October 6 concert in Westbury, New York.

The current lineup of DSL Dire Straits Legacy features longtime Dire Straits keyboardist Alan Clark; King Crimson saxophonist Mel Collins, who toured and recorded with Dire Straits during the early ’80s; and guitarist Phil Palmer and percussionist Danny Cummings, who toured with the band in the early ’90s and contributed to its final studio album, 1991’s On Every Street.

The Dire Straits Legacy lineup also includes ex-Buggles and Yes singer and acclaimed producer Trevor Horn, as well as Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers drummer Steve Ferrone, plus two Italian musicians: singer/guitarist Marco Caviglia and keyboardist Primiano DiBiase.

Clark and Palmer say in a joint statement, “The DSL Dire Straits Legacy project was born from our love and respect for the music of Dire Straits, and to bring the music to fans who have been starved of hearing it played live by the musicians who made it, for far too long. Now, after many requests, we’re coming to the U.S.!”

Besides Dire Straits material, Clark and Palmer say the group will play “one or two songs” from its 2017 album of original material, 3 Chord Trick.

The DSL Dire Straits Legacy project was launched several years ago, and a variety of musicians have played with the group since its inception, including ex-Dire Straits members John Illsley, Pick Withers, Chris White and Jack Sonni. Visit DSLegacy.com for more information.
