According to Deadline and confirmed by production company Lively McCabe Entertainment, the musical follows a 16-year-old “perfectionist” named Angela Quivers, whose life changes when she meets a punk rocker named Proxi.
The musical’s being developed by composer Joe Iconis, whose hit Off-Broadway musical Be More Chill will debut on Broadway in February.
Punk Rock Girl also will feature songs by Pink, Avril Lavigne, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bikini Kill and Echosmith. The title is a reference to the 1988 song by the pop-punk act Dead Milkmen.
There’s no word yet on when Punk Rock Girl will hit the stage, but production plans will be announced soon.
