'80s hits by Bon Jovi, Sammy Hagar, Steve Winwood featured on Bumblebee soundtrack

Republic RecordsThe new Transformers prequel, Bumblebee, opens in theaters across the U.S. on Friday, and coinciding with the sci-fi movie’s premiere, the film’s soundtrack has been released today as well. The flick, which is set during the 1980s, is packed with memorable rock and pop songs from the era.

Among the tunes by veteran rock artists featured on the album are Bon Jovi‘s “Runaway,” Sammy Hagar‘s “I Can’t Drive 55,” and Steve Winwood‘s “Higher Love.” The soundtrack also includes hits by ’80s acts including Duran Duran, a-Ha, Tears for Fears, Wang Chung, The Smiths and Simple Minds.

In addition, the film’s star, Hailee Steinfeld, contributes “Back to Life,” an ’80s-inspired original song written for the movie.

Bumblebee, the sixth installment in the Transformers franchise, tells the origin story of the black-and-yellow alien robot that’s able to turn itself into a Volkswagen Bug. The movie also features John Cena, Angela Bassett and Justin Theroux.
