Mike Colucci; ABC/Randy HolmesAs the world prepares to celebrate the arrival of 2019, a variety of famous rock acts will ring in the New Year onstage tonight. Among the stars scheduled to play concerts perform on December 31 are a number of Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, among them Billy Joel, Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
For the last few years, the Piano Man has celebrated New Year’s Eve by performing in Florida, but this year, he’s in a New York state of mind. He’ll play the Nassau Coliseum — now official known as NYCB Live/Home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum — on his home base of Long Island, New York. The show will mark the 25th anniversary of the last time Billy played that venue on New Year’s Eve.
As for Osbourne, he will headline the 2018 edition of Ozzfest, which will be held at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Other acts on the bill include Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Korn‘s Jonathan Davis and Body Count, featuring rapper Ice-T.
Skynyrd will close out the 2018 portion of its Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour will a concert at WinStar World Casino at Thackerville, Oklahoma.
Other famous veteran rock artists playing New Year’s Eve concerts include Peter Frampton, ex-Guess Who frontman Burton Cummings and J. Geils Band singer Peter Wolf.
