The 50th Anniversary Texas Bash will feature special concerts in three Lone Star State cities: Dallas on May 17, the Houston suburb of The Woodlands on May 18 and Austin on May 19.
Supporting ZZ Top at the shows will be Cheap Trick and Bad Company. Tickets for the concerts go on sale to the general public this Friday, February 1, at 10 a.m. local time. Pre-sale tickets for members of ZZ Top’s Tres Hombres fan club will be available starting Tuesday, January 29, at 10 a.m. local time.
“It’s been five decades, and I think we’re starting to get pretty good at this!” says ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons. “We’re just as excited to be back in Texas this May playing our bluesy kind of rock as when started with in ’69.”
Adds Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers, “Those three Texan hombres, aka ZZ Top, are celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year so Bad Company is going to join them and the fans to mark the occasion; hang on to your hats and heels!”
Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, meanwhile, says, “[It’s] truly an honor that the famed ‘Little Ol’ Band from Texas’ has asked Cheap Trick…to be included and open for these living legends.”
The Texas Bash concerts will mark the official launch of ZZ Top’s 50th anniversary tour, which will feature the band playing plenty of shows in North America and Europe. The band currently is wrapping up its latest Las Vegas residency at the Venetian Theatre, with performances this Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
