Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young: The Wild, Definitive Saga of Rock’s Greatest Supergroup takes a deep dive into the quartet’s intensely creative and volatile relationships, their personal dramas and the often turbulent times that the artists’ reflected and commented on in their music.
One of the interesting revelations included in the book, according to Page Six, is that Graham Nash went on several dinner dates with Barbra Streisand in1972 while the legendary entertainer was shooting the film What’s Up Doc? in San Francisco. As the website reports, Nash and Streisand didn’t have sex, but Graham wrote “Another Sleep Song” — a tune featured on his 1974 solo album Wild Tales — at Barbra’s Los Angeles home.
The biography, which is being published in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Crosby, Stills & Nash‘s self-titled debut album, features new interviews with Graham and David Crosby, as well as with various musical associates, fellow music stars, ex-managers, former lovers and others.
The book chronicles the band’s adventures on stage, in the studio and behind the scenes, including their break-ups, reunions and career highlights.
Fans who pre-order the book before its April 2 release will receive a special playlist of songs by CSNY or its various members curated by the author.
As Browne explains, “I’ve selected one song from each of [the book’s] 13 chapters: either a group endeavor or a song expressing how they felt about each other at one point in time.”
