Credit: Doltyn Snedden Lynyrd Skynyrd has postponed a pair of shows this week on their Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour because guitarist Gary Rossington needs time to recover from a recent heart procedure.

The Southern rock legends’ concerts this Friday, August 16, in Las Vegas, and Saturday, August 17, in Wheatland, California, have been rescheduled, respectively, for October 18 and 19.

The Las Vegas show’s originally announced co-headliner, Bad Company, will still appear at the rescheduled event. It’s not clear if Lynyrd Skynyrd’s support acts for the Wheatland concert — Grand Funk Railroad and Georgia Satellites — will remain on the October 19 bill.

Rossington underwent a procedure to repair a leaky heart valve on July 31, after experiencing fatigue and other symptoms related to his ailment. Gary, who is the last remaining surviving original Lynyrd Skynyrd member, is expected to make a full recovery.

“We all appreciate the well wishes for Gary and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” singer Johnny Van Zant says in a statement. “But he can’t wait to come back and perform at 100% for the fans. We will see you all soon!”

The band is slated to return to the stage on Friday, August 23, for a show in Irvine, California, that also will feature fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top and Cheap Trick.
